the move

so I have made two moves in the last two weeks. I am now in Paris, france and I am also blogging on Myspace. You can search me there under my name (Amy Anderson-Tho) and I have already posted one blog for every day I have been here including photos and stuff. So if you are a myspacer go be my friend and find my photos. and if you want a video tour of our new place just e-mail me so I can hook you up with the URL. my time on xanga has been great, but too many friends wanted me on myspace really really relaly bad- friends that didn't xanga. so- I had to compromise. Xanga has a better blog forum- but Myspace has more friends and more ways to communicate from overseas. So thank you xanga and all my xanga friends, but I will have to say Au revoir for now.

Love

Amy Anderson-Tho

empty house

This last weekend we had our big yard sale. We sold almost everything we own and we made over 1300 dollars. After the day was over we ate and fell sound asleep. We now live in a house that actually echoes in some of the rooms because there is nothing in them. Our mattress is on the floor and my new laptop is proped up on the only thing we didn't sell-- a coffee table circa 1970 that we were given when we got to Athens. Marx is confused but enjoying the fact that we are home more and just hanging out with him.

It's my last week at work and my boss is going a little crazy trying to get all the info from me that she needs before I leave. I know she will call me weekly when I am in Paris. I fly to Virginia this weekend to testify on Monday against Mr. Horvey, and then it is back to Athens to finish packing.

There are two big parties, one happening tomorrow night that my friends at work are throwing, and one happening on the 12th that some of our other friend's are throwing. It should be fun- but there is definatley still tuns of stuff to get done.

I wish that I was legally allowed to post about some of the cases that are going on at work because it is really post-worthy stuff. I would have like a million comments if I could post some of it. It has been a really crazy two weeks at work and it is going to be strange to leave and lose the connection with the cases and with the people.

Everything is going reasonably well- but I can't help feeling nervous and a little excited. This is what moving is about I guess- I'm always just a little scared. We will see what happens.

I've just been subpoenaed for the first time in my life. I must appear in court as their star witness in York County Virginia on August 7th. They even moved the court date because I'm scheduled to leave to Paris on August 15th. This feels very crazy. Tzuchien said it is sort of exciting and yet I am not looking forward to recounting the crazy phone call that put me in this position. My statement written was four pages long and I am not looking forward to being cross examined on it. Agh- my coworkers were laughing about it because they are all very glad it is me and not them. Sigh...

I find myself once again appologizing for the absence of postings, and I must again make the excuse of busyness. Here is what I have been up to:

1. May 5th: I went into Emory Vision Laser Center to have Lasik performed on both of my eyes. I had been researching it for awhile and after nearly a 3 hour exam they determined that I was a prime candidate. I had to have double surgery since I have both an astygmatism and nearsightedness, but I knew it would be worth it. I have been wearing glasses since I was 5 and I have never been so happy to do away with an accessory.

2. May 13th: I graduated from Graduate School. I formally recieved my Master's in Public Administration. It was great. I sat with my friend jasmine through the entire ceremony. Blake gave us each a mini bottle of liquor to stash in our puffy Master robe sleeves to drink when they confired the degree on us. We never did because he handed us both Malibu (gross). My parent's couldn't make it but I hung out with Jasmine's family the whole time- they were awesome.

3. May 18th: I went into Emory vision for my post-op exam and I now have 20/15 vision in both of my eyes- and no astygmatism. They put the 20/20 chart on the wall and I was like "no problem" and I read them all confidently. Then they said "why don't we try the 20/15 and when they switched the letters I could still read them with no problems. I was so happy.

4. May 19th: Flew from Atl to Lax to Tpe to Kota Kinabalu to Kuching. They lost my bag. I brought one measly little bag and the airline had to lose it. We were in Kuchin for grave sweeping and all I had was what I wore on the plane.  I was wearing a cute little brand new yellow top from anthropologie, new blue and white striped pointy toed flats, my jeans that make my butt look cute, and a new khaki pilot jacket. It was my graduation outfit that I bought and now I was stuck in it for 5 straight days. Not to mention that I had to buy something immediately to go grave sweeping in (his grandmother's grave is sort of amidst the jungle and involves a little hike) and I was meeting many new relatives in the same outfit over and over. It was quite comical, but all in all everything turned out okay. My bag finally came on the 24th when we went back to Taiwan. I now know exactly how light I can actually pack.

5. June 1st: We flew back to the states

6. June 3rd: Tzuchien and I celebrated the first anniversary of our 1st year of marriage: our second anniversary is on the 11th of June. If you guys remember the wedding stuff you will know why we have 2 dates to celebrate.

7. June 4th: We pulled off the Healing Hearts fundraiser for the Sexual Assault Center and managed to raise quite a lot of money. The weather was nice, the food was great, and the drinks kept the bids for the auction flowing. I did my appropriate schmoozing as the development director and I am very happy that it is over now. I have a stack of paperwork that is almost three feet high sitting on my desk.

Well- that is just about it. Apart from that i had a great time seeing my family, we finally got our new address in Paris and we are working to try and figure out exactly how to move/pack/sell stuff. Including our cat. I promise to post pictures soon.

Love you all- talk to you soon!

and P.S. Girls- when is our trip going to be???
